I recently clean re-installed windows xp on my old dell dimensioin 2400. Now, i can't connect to the internet at all. The disc from the isp (Verzion) isn't even for my modem thats a Westell Versalink 7500. Do i need drivers and where can i find them. Please help.
You don't need drivers for the Modem. What you do need is drivers the the Network Interface Card. You can get drivers for that from the Dell website. Stuart
OK i downloaded the driver and it is a application file and it wants me to select a program to open with. Can someone please help me with maybe a step-by-step quick tutorial. Thanks
What dell sometimes offers is a self extracting file. It looks like a program of sorts but simply un-compresses files to some location. You can go to your hardware (right click on My Computer and open properties, hardware, device manager.)
Go to the yellow mark under network and tell it to find new driver. It will be in the place you told the dell program to un-compress the files. That is what I suspect will get your network card working. You may still have to set up your ISP.
All of the above may be useless if you have a working NIC already and you only need to configure your ISP settings.
