I recently had to replace my Linksys vonage router with a new Linksys Vonage approved router to get my phone to work. Now the two computers on my network can't see each other and worse, they can no longer print to the HP printer on the network. They CAN access the internet. My new setup is slightly different because the new router had only one ethernet port. Both computers, the printer, and the new router now all plug into a switch. The switch plugs into the cable modem. I ran both the Network wizard and add new printer wizard on both computers but still can't print. If I try to print, the job is in the cue but I get some "spooling failed" message (sorry, I'm at work and can't recall exactly). Do I have to reinstall the printer drivers? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

"The switch plugs into the cable modem"
And this works??? It shouldn't

Proper config is this:
modem<>router<>switch<>pcs and printer

Which means the router plugs into the modem on its wan side and the switch on its lan side.

With your present setup nothing is going thru the router. I would also suspect your new router isn't configured as a dhcp server. You must be getting different ips from the modem [you can confirm this with ipconfig at a cmd prompt] which in turn explains why you can't network but you get internet. All lan ips have to be in the same subnet to communicate.

PS if your switch isn't auto mdix/mdi or have a uplink port you will need a crossover cable from the lan side of the router to the switch

Imagine the power if you knew how to internet search
