I'm in a small office network. Our DNS(DHCP) is in Windows Server 2003 and the desktops are Windows XP. Two of our desktops have problem while connecting to the network.
The network icon shows as connected. Now I try to connect to the network it shows as page cannot be displayed. Now I check the status of the local area connection it shows sent packets are some numbers and received packets are zero. Is it an IP address problem or a virus problem.

How many XP clients do you have? If more than the two then I would imagine the others are all working properly. Start your troubleshooting by opening a command prompt window on the two XP PC's that aren't connecting properly and type the following command:
ipconfig /all
Now open a command prompt window on one of your XP PC's that is connecting properly and do the same thing. Compare. Are there any differences. If so, list them here.
This sounds like a DNS issue to me so pay special attention to the DNS addresses on the problem PC's as well as the IP addresses.

I the number of received packets is 0, I would imagine, that there is something blocked like bootp (udp port 67, 68). You may try to disable winxp firewall and try again.
