Ethernet Card: Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
Driver: Realtek Semiconductor Corp. v.5.615.716.2004
Driver Date: 7/16/2004
----------------
DSL Provider: Verizon
DSL Modem: Westell WireSpeed Dual Connect Modem B90-210015-04
Driver: Westell, Inc. 5.1.2600.0
Driver Date: 8/23/2001
----------------3 Years ago I signed-up for Verizon DSL and received 2 cables (1 USB & 1 Ehternet) meant to interface between the modem and my PC (a laptop). When I put in Verizon's installation CD the installation wouldn't recognize my ethernet port when I connected it to the PC, so for the past few years I've been using the USB cable. Well, I want to free up a USB portand actually use my ethernet port. Now if I plugin the ethernet cable Windows recognizes Local Area Connection (1) and the modem recognizes that its connected via ethernet (the ethernet light lights up on the modem). Problem is that try as I may, repairing the connection fails and I can't get an IP Address and thus can't get online. All it says is that the connection is limited. The connection is set to obtain an IP Address & DNS Server Address automatically so I don't see what the problem is. I know there are cases like this around here, but thought it best to post about my specific situation.
Thanks if you can help.

Try to reset ur Westell modem then reconnect...
I had this problem few days ago.. I reset my modem... and tried reconnect... and it work!!
Hope this help!!!

@coolieplanet
By reset you mean turn the modem off then on with the ethernet cable and PC hooked up? Or disable and re-enable the connection under Network Connections? Because I've tried both and nothing happens.@mike
Thanks, I'll try that and hopefully they'll know what I it is I'm asking for.

on the back of ur Modem there's a little hole where it says Reset.. use a small stick to press it.. for like 15s or so... then log onto ur modem and type in user name and pw or use the CD provided by Verizon to reconnect...

I am having the same issue. Have you found out what is wrong? For me, it started when I was rebuilding a family member's pc. Everything went well and I even got internet connection on her pc but when I plugged in my pc, I got the message "limited or no connectivity" and I couldn't connect to the Internet. I plugged in my family member's pc and that pc got on the internet just fine. I bought a new realtek NIC and reformatted my pc thinking this was the issue but I am still having the same issue. I tried to reset the westell modem as suggested but nothing happens. The lights don't reset they just stay lit. Please let me know if you all find something.
