We are currently having problems with an associate trying to access our server from Michigan. I'm new to this company and need some help. Everything was working fine in the past and just recently he was unable to access the server. Any ideas on what to do. what protocols should be used for remote access?

Wow - that's like saying "My PC does not work. Can anyone tell me why?" Need more information such as does the associate connect from the Internet? Is a modem pool or RAS server involved? Microsoft server? Novell? Any use of VPN?
The protocols are probably IP but could be IPX, Appletalk or a slew of others. If VPN is used another layer of complexity is added.
