Hello,

We used to always install NetBEUI and TCP/IP on all of our RAS clients. This would allow us to double click on a connected machine in RAS Admin, and see it’s hostname in the field “NetBEUI Name:”. Well, NetBEUI was causing browse list problems when the machines were connected locally so it had to be removed, And Now it’s very difficult to see the hostnames of the machines that are dialing in. The NetBEUI Name: is blank in RAS admin. The only info I can see is username and the ipaddress that was assigned to the client.

We do have a WINS server, and the RAS clients do register with the wins server when they connect, so I can sort of figure out the hostname by looking at exiration date and IP address in the wins database, but It’s cumbersome.

Is there a way to get the hostname to show up RAS Admin without installing NetBEUI on the RAS clients?

Thanks,
Alex
