Hey guys,

I have a WRT54GS Linksys router. We've had it
for a few years now and for the past couple
weeks we've experienced random resets. The
cable company even replaced the cable modem
today because we thought it was that at
first.

I've tried Linksys' original firmware, I've
tried opensource firmware as well (DD-WRT and
, currently, Tomato)

I do not think it is a firmware issue because
it will happen with any of them. Yesterday I
got 3+ random resets, today only 1 or 2 so
far.

Does this mean the router is just going bad
and it's time for a new one ( I was thinking
of getting a Wireless-N) or could it be
something that is not related to the router?

Any help appreciated!

By the way, after it resets my connection is
always ok 5 minutes later or so.

Does that model have log files on the router to read.

They are cheap and not built to last. They go bad. Could check the output of the wall wart.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

Here is the log for the time I reckon it
happened. I google'd "WRT54GS Random Resets"
and I've seen a few people with the problem
but no definite solution.

I've changed names on the log for security
reasons, but just think of them as my little
brother's computer:

P.S: I've used the original firmware, DD-WRT, and now Tomato, all with same results.
