Quickbooks POS Client VPN

July 14, 2009 at 09:31:04
Specs: Windows Vista
There are three sites. Each site has one
desktop running windows vista, with
Quickbooks POS 7.0 loaded. Each site has a
linksys wrv200 VPN router. I can
successfully connect to each location, ping
each desktop, and access files via IP address through browser, i.e inputing //192.168.x.x into the address bar of the file browser.

My question is as follows-
How can I connect to the POS server using
my Windows Vista loaded laptop with
Quickbooks Client over the VPN?

Each time I try it searches for the "server" (the desktop with the pos file) but does not find it. I know this question requires not only networking experts, but also someone with a great understanding of Quickbooks POS itself.

is this the multi store version?

Have you reviewed these?

8 is the new version, 7 is the previous version. I am working with
version 7. I am assuming the mechanics shouldn't be too

do you have basic, pro or multi store version?

did you do the server install on the workstation you are trying to access?

I believe I have pro, but I do not have the multi store version. I will
need to look into that. For now, I may need to use remote

How many licenses did you purchase? Running RDP to access POS defeats the whole point of a point of sales system.

Was the pro install you are trying to access installed as a server vs a client install?
