Ok heres my problem. My ip address on this comp is 192.165.15.1 and my ip is 192.165.0.1 i wanna open up a few ports on my PC but i cant b/c my ip doesnt match my routers ip. And when i go into my routers port range i cant change em for my comp b/c my ip is not similar. it only allows me to change the last 3 digits of my ip. So i need to know how to change my 0 to a 15

Why don't you change your PC's ip to match the routers ip address.
E.g.
Router: IP: 192.168.0.1 SubNet: 255.255.255.0
PC: IP: 192.168.0.2 SubNet: 255.255.255.0Now you can configure your router to open up ports for services on provided by your pc.

Normally, you can configure your computer, to get the IP address via DHCP (automatically).
You'll find this in Control Panel, My Network.
Rightclick on Lan-Connection, choose properties, TCP/IP and again properties.
Now choose to get IP address and DNS automatically.
Now click OK, til you're back to the My Networks. Now, restart you computer.
After that, you can go into your routers setup and configure the firewall, to let pass through the port you want, to you new IP address.
To figure out your given IP address, open a DOS Prompt and type in:
ipconfig /allYou have to use this IP address in your routers firewall or port forwarding section.
I hope, this helps ...

Well heres the problem paul. I just did what you said. And the auto and the DNS were already set to auto

sorry i meant my IP and my DNS were already set to auto. Should i change them manually to the ip i want?

If your routers ip is 192.168.0.1 and Subnet is 255.255.255.0, than you must configure your pc to 192.168.0.xxx, where xxx is a value from 2 to 254.
On DHCP, your pc normally should get the ip and subnet mask automatically.
If DHCP is not working propperly, you have to configure it manually.Paul
