Can the subnet mask decrease along with the network further development? For example, if a first layer of a corporate network subnet mask set as 223.168.1.220/30, can the second layer network subnet mask set as 223.168.1.0/26 ?? This does not seems right to me, since I believe that we can only subnet bits which have not yet been subnetted.

My first instinct is to say no, unless there's a NAT (or something similar) involved. That might be the case in your provided graphic.

Supernetting like FishMonger said, is used to split bits for further subnetting.

Get a subnet calculator. I think solarwinds offers a good free one.

To be precise, all computers on a lan segment do not need to be on the same subnet. You only subnet computers that need to talk to somewhere else. Both the ip and subnet plus the gateway determine final endpoint possibility's.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.
