psexec used with defrag

June 18, 2009 at 19:55:12
Specs: Windows XP
I am using psexec to run through a .txt file with all the pc's in the domain to defrag them. When it was going through i notice a lot of them were timeout accessing remote computers. so i pinged some of them and some of them i could ping. so i ran the psexec on that specific pc with the same psexec command except instead of using the @file i used \\pcname and it works. so my question is why do some of them timeout when i can ping them and if i run it on that specific pc the psexec works

That is a way to use it.

Second is ping is not how this works.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
