Hey
I would like to link my PS2 to my existing wireless network. I have read that the way to do this is to get a network adapter and a wireless bridge adapter.
I have browsed around and Linksys seems to have the best prices plus the rest of my hardware is Linksys.
They provide three options; the WET11 11Mbs; and two specifically for gaming, the wireless g adapter and the wirless b adapter. These two seem to be more expensive and I was wondering what they offer above the WET11. The wireless g is obviously faster but why do I need 54Mbs when my internet connection is only about 750kbs. Please could someone shed some light. Thx

Why does you Network card have to be 10/100 Mbs???
You only have 750 kbs connection...In short faster is ALWAYS better.
Especially in wireless enviroment because interference has a big impact in the speed of your wireless network.I haven't researched the differences between wireless b and wireless G architeture to give a informed respnse on that issue.
However I have had some real world experience with these Networks and Wireless G is better, faster, more reliable and more compatable.
For instance... Wireless b wouldn't be a great choice for gaming because streaming video over wireless b is next to impossible.
Wireless G on the other hand does it with no sweat.
In the simplest terms...
Wireless b (11mbs) would be like a P2 PC.
Wireless G (54 mbs) would be like a P4 PC.
Fast Wireless G (108mbs) would be a P4 on steriods with Hyperthreading fully utilized.Fast Wireless G (108mbs) smokes them all and leaves the others in the dust.
It would be the obvious choice for online gaming.
D-Link has a great Fast Wireless G (108mbs) setup. I bought a router and a Netwok card on ebay for $90.00 last month. Brand new equipment.
You could use a router or a switch.
Personally i would buy the router.
You can always configure it as a wireless access point, or you could use it as a router. The point being. At least you have more options with a router.
Hope this helps...
Good Luck.
