I have been using "Remote Desktop Connection" without any problems for a few months both on my LAN and also remotely through the internet.
I am now getting this error message on my laptop when attempting to connect to my PC both through my LAN and the internet. It's worth noting that I am able to connect fine from my PC to my Laptop and that both machines are runnng fully licensed versions of Windows XP Professional.
Remote Desktop Disconnected - Because of a protocol error detected at the client (code 0x1204), this session will be disconnected. Please try connecting to the remote computer again.
I am wondering if it has somethign to do with missing or corrupt registry entries which could be caused by some registry fix software that I use.

It might be the latest Windows security fix.
Try removing the last one you received.

Today seems like a good day to chew through the restraints.

Hi Larry,
I recently installed a security update so I uninstalled it and rebooted but it didn't solve the problem.
I'm going to try a system restore to a previous point to see if this solves the problem.
Any other ideas?

I managed to solve this in the end. I had another remote desktop application that was using the remote access port. I stopped that application from using it and it all works OK now.
