I have a Motorola SB5120 Modem and Netgear FVS318 router. I used to have a 3com DOXport 1110 modem with this router and I never had a problem. Then the modem started freezing so I got this one, and now I seem to be having problems with connection being slow and every now and then ill just get the "A network cable has been unplugged" pop up and then go right away, and once it does it once it usually does it a few more times, but nothing ever resets because it happens so quick. AIM doesnt disconnect and reconnect or anything. Im wondering what the problem is. A buddy of mine told me I should get rid of the modem since comcast users have not had good luck with it and also replace the router because its old. I updated to the newest firmware but its still pretty old. Any idea on some new hardware or what can fix my problem?

Network cable message is from pc to router. Sounds like your router is failing OR the port settings between the router lan port and the nic are wrong.

If you direct connect to the modem is internet stable and fine? If so its not the modem. Replace the router.

Imagine the power if you knew how to internet search
