Comment:

I have 2 computers that are connect through a hub both have the following:
share enabled
same group name
both show up on each others network list.
both show the proper names for drives shared

However both act differently as how folders show up on Network tree. Below are images to show the difference.

Computer #1 show shared folder separately form ShareDocs
http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/...
Computer #2 show shared folder under ShareDoc.

Hopefully you can see the difference, not only do they look different but they act differently.
Look at P417 Local Disk D: it looks like it is shared however what opens up is the Local Disk D; on the P424 not the P417.

Can anyone explain what is going on here?

My guess is that you don't have any shares on 417. That arrow is a link. The other shares have been re-named.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

Appears to me local disk d: is not shared but a shortcut to your d drive. That shortcut is under shared docs.

Otherwise it looks like you are sharing at different levels on each pc. You can see shared docs is at one level in one view and a sublevel in another view.

Question why do the two computer shave different share property window.?

On the P424 the property window for share is simple

but on the P417 the window is more complex?

Do I have different level of control going here?

Just solved my problem here.
The difference was that under one I did not have the box checked off for "use simple sharing". This is found in Window Explorer Tools/view.

Checked the box off and it turned into the more simplified version.

That also was the cure for my file sharing problem.

Thanks for the replies and help.
