Problem with belkin N300 router

July 7, 2013 at 21:55:42
Specs: Windows 7
I m using a belkin N300 router. Yesterday, the router's green light turned into red all on a sudden. I thought the internet was gone. But no, everything is perfect as it should be. No problem with the internet and i can use the router perfectly even though it shows the red light constantly. I don't understand the deal here. I've tried restarting the modem several times. Double checked the router config page. Everything's perfect.

Please help.

I'm a firm believer in "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" so considering your router is working, I wouldn't mess with it.

Which green light turned red? You never specified and since there will be several green lights on the modem, it might help to let us know which one.

Overall, I would suspect you should be contacting Belkin's support people about this issue as they would be more likely to be able to help you with it.

Thanks for your reply. But i already mentioned that it's the belkin N300 router. So, it has only one LED indicator which shows if the internet is working or not. If the internet is working, it shows green. If not, it shows red (more like orange).
So, the thing is, there IS internet, but it still continues to show red since two days and i don't have a clue why, since both the internet and wifi works just perfect.

You're making an assumption. You're assuming I have experience with that exact make/model of router. When I asked you "what green light" didn't you think, "Oh, maybe he's never seen that model"?

Does it really matter why the light is red if the unit is still working? Obviously the light is broken somehow. If it's really important to you that the light be green, replace the unit. If it's still under warranty, that shouldn't cost you anything. If it were me, I'd ignore that the light was red (unless it was under warranty in which case I'd RMA it and replace it) and leave it be.
