Hi all...perhaps you can help me with my problem.
I have a DSL account with SBC Yahoo. Unlike my previous DSL provider(plug cable from modem to computer and voila...I am connected to the internet right away), I need to connect to some server of sbc before I am connected to the internet.
Here is the problem. Back then, when I was still using my old DSL provider, I got along just fine using a Hawking 4 port hub, and I was able to share the internet connection between my labtop and desktop.
Now however, only one can be connected at one time.
One thing that I should let you guys know about is that in the hub there is a switch between "normal" and "uplink". I don't have any idea what either one is suppose to mean but if I don't put the switch on uplink, I am not able to connect at all.
So...to repeat...the problem is...after I had set the switch to uplink already...connected everything properly, only one computer (either my desktop or my labtop) can connect to SBC Yahoo DSL at a single time.
Does anyone know the solution....?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You probably need a router to use it with SBC Yahoo. Or buy a second ip address.

Why did you change services?

Search dslreports.com for you DSL provider to get details.

Do you use PPPoE? It requires you to log on for an Internet connection (even DSL).

The easiest solution is to get a router and configure it (easy) to log in automatically for you. Common routers (like from Linksys) have a switch (to share your connection) and DHCP (dynamically give IP addresses).

With or without PPPoE, the router essentially handles your connection and sends it to you and anyone else connected.
