I am having problems getting to print to my computer from other compueters in my home.
I have three PC's
1. Compaq with cable internet, modem and Linksys wireless router. (Windows XP)
2. Toshiba laptop with network card. (Windows XP)
3. Compaq on Windows 98 with network adaptorBoth computers 2 and 3 are seeing the network and accessing the internet; however, I can't figure out what settings to set in order to print.
On the laptop (#2)I get a message saying that the print job failed to print.
On PC #3 (on Windows 98) I get authorization / permission error messages as I try to set up the printer.
Please help anyone. Thanks

On xp computer go to help and support and do a search on printer sharing. It will tell you how to setup a printer to share and access a shared printer.

It really helps if you have a printer attached to your network, too. Your problem description didn't mention one. Do you have a networked printer or a local printer on one of your machines you want to share?

I've gone to the help section on the XP, and I've followed their suggestions. Still it doesn't work.
I have a local print (no print server) pluged into one of the XP machines (computer #1)

Enable File/Printer sharing on the XP machine, make sure the firewall is off or set to allow traffic from the 192.168.x.x range (XP's firewall has a radio button list to define the type of network the machine is on), and then make sure each remote user has an account on that machine and permission to use the printer (check the Shares tab under Properties for it). Then run the Printers Wizard and look for the network(ed) local printer.
One thing many people don't realize is how paranoid Windows has become since the Win9x days. Even if you don't use a userid and password to log into a WinXP box, you have to set one up for remote users to access any files/folders/devices remotely.
