Printer sharing with Vista and XP

May 14, 2009 at 04:16:42
Specs: Windows XP Pro
I have recently purchased a Linksys router which is connected to a modem. A desktop pc with XP Pro is connected to the router via cable and laptop with Vista Basic connected to the router wirelessly. The printer that I want to share is connected to the desktop pc. What do I have to do to share the printer with the laptop wirelessly through the router?

Enable file & print sharing on both machines. Tell all firewalls to allow it. Try the printer wizard to find the printer. If that doesn't work, open the printer folders in both machines & drag the printer from one to the other. You may have to install the drivers from the CD or download them from the internet.
