I have a Lexmark Optra S 1250 with an internal network server installed. The printer recognises that the network card is installed, but when i check the network card status, it says "not connected". Also, when I try to connect a network line to my switch, there are no network activity lights on the switch. In short, my printer cannot connect to my network switch and hence cannot connect to my networked computers.

I have tested the printer with a number of network cables and ports but still can't get the network switch to show any printer activity. Can somebody help please?

You haven't mention whether you've configured the printer's "internal network server." You need to assign a static IP address for your network through the printer's configuration panel.

Kevin has a good point. The Lexmark S series Optra printers have to be configured in tht network setup from the control panel. You have to enable TCP/IP and set the IP address into it. You also have to set the subnet and gateway. The way to see what is set is to print a network configuration page. Go to the Utility listing and then do a print settings and print network settings pages. check to see how it is configured. When I finish servicing a Lexmark I leave a copy of both printouts in the frame on the upper access door under the control panel. That way when another tech comes back the pages with working settings are there.
