Comment: Have a network with XP except for 2 Win98. There is a Stand-alone network printer on the network at 192.168.1.20 It is easy setting this up in XP. I can just create an IP printer port and put in that IP. I cannot find the same settings area in Win98se. There does not seem to be any option an add an IP print port. HOWEVER, I can ping the printer from the Win98 pc just fine. Is there a special procedure or utility for adding that IP address to a printer port in Win98? Thanks

Reply: (edit)Print server cd should have the lpr install on it. XP/W2k come with lpr printing but 9x/me doesn't which is why you have to install the lpr printer deamon.

Reply: (edit)Resolution: Indeed...with maker of the Network Printer did have a special utility just for Win98. I just had to make sure the Printer was properly connected to the network, then run that utility on the Win98 PC. The printer showed right up. I suppose all makers of network-ready printers will provide a utility for Win98.
