I have a print server with a epson all in one printer and found out that i can print, but i cant get any info from the printer such as ink levels. I also cannot use the scan part of the printer because the printer needs to send info to the computer. is there a print server out there that can handle a printer like this?? or is there another solution?? could I get a usb splitter so i can connect the printer directly to the computer that i need to be able to scan on and also plug it into the server for my other computers?

I have seen some applications/hardware solutions that allow for USB devices to be connected to a network and give each user the ability to use the device as if it were connected to their machine. But, the reviews on them were critical due to some bugs which they felt would be corrected in later releases. Basically a print server provides one-way communication for the most part.
You could just attatch the device to your computer so that you will have full functionality and then share out the printer to others on your network. They will not be able to scan or get ink levels though.

I was doing that before I got the print server but then I have to have the main computer on in order or it to work and the printing takes forever.
