Comment:

I need to render a workgroup invisible from other computers on the network... or failing that, inaccessible from outside the workgroup.

I have 5 XP pro /Fat32 boxes workgrouped and linked through a hub, which is itself connected to a corporate LAN (in order to use their internet connection).
"Simple File Sharing " is disabled, and "File and Printer Sharing" is bound to IPX.
IP addresses are dynamically assigned.

Currently, shared folders are accessible from outside the workgroup, which they shouldnt be.
It seems easiest to simpley render the workgroup invisible from other computers on the network... is this possible ??

thanks ,

oliver

Why not use NTFS format on the XP machines and the use the permissions to restrict who can see?

...converting to NTFS would be a last resort.
I'm looking for alternatives to that solution...

Have you tried removing the everyone group from the share and then adding those that should be able to access individually?
