Hey guys,

Got a bit of a problem, I've got a Belkin Wireless G+ MIMO router and I've installed it in a property that I rent out to holiday-makers. I would like to know if there is a way to prevent people from resetting the router?

I've tried my best to conceal the router itself, but there is nowhere I can store the router where people can't get to it.

If that's not possible then I was thinking about a way to set a master default config that is ALWAYS loaded (even after trying soft and hard resets) to ensure the admin password and settings are always the same no matter what.

The other problem is, for me to access the router from home I can do so by using the remote administration feature, but with the IP from my ISP being dynamic, is it possible to use something like No-IP to allow me to connect successfully regardless of my WAN IP address?

If anything above is unclear please let me know and I will clarify, thanks for your help!

I understand what you are saying. Beside locking the router in a safe vault, the only option you have is let the holiday-makers know in writing that playing with the router reset button is in itself ground for immediate eviction with no refund.

Sorry, I've just noticed my Belkin router has the DDNS feature so I can use that to avoid the WAN IP address changing problem.

Still looking for a way to set a default master config!

Cheers

I'm not familiar with your particular router, but most can only be "Reset" by holding a reset button. Ether epoxy over this button, or open up the device and actually unsolder the button. Then no-one can reset it.

Call me naive, but what are "holiday makers?" People who make up their OWN holidays? Like "Festivus?"

Jennifer,

Holiday makers = tourists, people on vacation.

It's a British thing.
