Hey all,
I am about to go interview with a university tech dept. for tier 2 support position and I have a question for you.
what is the preferred method to distribute software across a network these days? I am really sorry that at the moment I don't know what they are running, but I suspect they are running 2003 server with a hundreds of XP pro desktops.
I am familiar with norton's ghost from a few years ago when I used it on a multi-classroom lan to distribute a new image across every desktop simultaneously, but what other methods are there?
does Active Directory do this stuff? I am pretty green to AD by the way.
and what is the preferred way to secure XP Pro desktops from users installing stuff they shouldn't, or in any way modifying the machine? I need to educate myself on this as quickly as possible.
thank you very much for any input.
Chuck

Will there are many diff prod's out there, SMS is one Marimba , but using AD is the one (using .msi packages) there are two way's of pushing sofware out, based on machine names and Users,,
