I think Windows OS below XP require you to install a PPPoE driver such as WinPoet. This is commonlly used for DSL and some broadband internet connections

Can you please me more specific. I think you mean PPPoE Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet. PPPoE is an protocol used with a cable or DSL connection. It is a parmeter set in a broadband Modem/Router. Nothing to set within the OS.
