Specs: Windows XP
trying to hook up wireless - have old machine - router guide suggests wireless adapter to use with modem. Has anyone tried this? Does it work?

You'll need to find a wireless card that will plug into the eMachine. (Check out what kind of expansion slots it has.) If it's running XP, you can probably still find a card and driver. If it's older than that, you'll have to really hunt around for a card and driver.

I'm assuming that there is a wireless network already active at your location. If not, you'll need to solve this problem before dealing with the wireless card in the PC.

Also check the wireless network type. (b, g, or n) You'll need the card to work with the network type. (N is relatively new, so I doubt you would find a card for this type.)
