Port Forwarding

Any takers? I am running a FTP Server and I am unable to connect to it from outside my LAN. All information I have found indicates that DHCP on my Linksys BEFSR41 router must be disabled to use the Port Forwarding feature on this router. This is out of the question, since I am using a DHCP connection (AT&T broadband). Is there another way to accomplish accessing my FTP over the WAN?
Thanks guys and gals

You don't need to have a static address for your WAN side, but it sure makes it easier to get to from the outside on a consistent basis.
As far as the internal (LAN) side, you need a static IP on the ftp server so you can forward the ports 20& 21 to your ftp server. You can use DHCP for the rest of the network, just shrink the DHCP pool on the Linksys and make the IP address of the ftp server the next address after your DHCP pool ends, or any address not used by the DHCP pool in the same subnet for that matter.
