hi
I've got a belkin wireless router,in a network with 4 pc's, everything is working fine.
The only problem is I want to forward a range of ports to my computer, but It's only possible to forward 10 seperate ports.
In the router settings theres also a Special Application Ports option, but I can't really get that to work.
So I tried to put my pc in DMZ mode.
From what I understand DMZ puts your pc outside the firewall so that should solve the problem. Except it doesn't work..
(I tried running a program using port 9881, and while port forwarding that port it says that that port is open(http://www.grc.com), but while running the DMZ it's on stealth, so I assume it doesn't work.)So.. can anyone help me with this.
thanks

Hi
having trials & tribulations with belkin
for some time myself i commiserate,
however what you can do is use the "virtualserver" settings to specify a range of ports for that pc ,eg i run unrealT game server 0n ports 7777-7778 tcp so you can state a range gets you past the 10 limit.
in port triggering you can specify the same
range which basically does the same as forwarding but there may be apps issues as port triggering doesnt seem to respond to external requests after a period of time ,the bit which is confusing is dhcp , as your behind a NAT sometimes the wrong pc gets the ip you have determined as the p2p client etc, so you have to use static ip's for each pc(never worked properly 4 me but anyway worth a try)
heres a link which may help better than my effort,
http://www.adslguide.org.uk/hardware/reviews/2004/q4/belkin-f5d7630-4a.asp
are you using dhcp or static ip?
have you disabled xp f/w?
ignore grc results; your behind a nat, mine tells me several ports are open and...so? xp opens them anyway! msn p2p apps etc
i have a software firewall as well that works fine ,ZA.

hi
thanks for the response.I've tried putting a range of ports in the virtual server settings, but only seem to be able to put 5 numbers in it, so it's only possible to open single ports.
(Looks like this:http://www.portforward.com/belkin/f5d6230-3-portforwarding.htm)
With the special application ports it is possible to put a range of ports, but only with one trigger port; and I can't get the special application port to work.I'm not sure what DHCP means, but in the router setup it tells me that the DHCP server is enabled. All the computers in the network don't change their Ip adresses though. It always stays the same.
I'm not using the windows firewall. But I am using Kerio personal firewall; I know thats not the problem since I've also tried everything while having shut down the program.
Would you also have any clue why the DMZ and port triggering don't work for me..
thanks.
