I am using an XPx64 system as a server for a custom server app written long ago.
The app only listens on interface 172.16.1.1, which does not jive with our network.
So, I installed the MS loopback adapter driver and assigned that 172.16.1.1. I have now been looking for ways to forward the network IP port to the loopback port.
This is trivial on linux, with IPtables and ssh able to do this easily. However, I cannot find a good, FREE solution for this on windows.
I have tried using CYGWIN and sshd. This works, but there are a few problems:
-I can't seem to run the forwarding command at the system level without logging in (the server program runs as a service, so ideally I should be able to set up the forward at the system level).
-Additionally, the sshd setup on that machine is hosed in some way, so that I cannot get ssh to use the 'authorized keys' file and allow the command to be run without a password. (I am trying to solve this too, but it's taking time. Anyway, that still requires a user login to work, I think).
No, I cannot use ICS in this environment.
So what I am really looking for is either a service or setting that allows me to forward a port, internally on this machine, at the system level.
Hope that covers it all!
Thanks for any help in advance!
