I recently set up a wireless network in my house so that I could get cable onto my computer. There was no easy access for ntl to route a cable to the pc, and I didn't want cables all over the house.
I bought a 3com OfficeConnect Wireless Cable/DSL Gateway and a Cnet CNWLC-311 Wireless PCI Card. The signal is 100% when the devices are practically touching, but when I bring the access point to the front the of the computer the signal drops by 15dBm, if I have the access point where I actually need it running, the signal would drop by 50dBm.
I can get the internet up and running, but only at the speeds the equivalent of dialup, when I've got a 600kbps connection installed.
I've fiddled around moving the access point and pc's antenae to give the best signal possible (I used Net Stumbler for this, by listening to the pitch of the SSID broadcast).
Can anyone help me please as it's drving me insane!!

For ur problem try bringing the PC near the Acces Point and try changing the speed to 11mbps and let me know if u have problems mail me to bablu_8@yahoo.com
