Have a desktop connected to a WCG200 Linksys Gateway (Cable/Wireless Router Combo). Connected via a ethernet cable, since gateway has four ports. Have a Dell C610 laptop with linksys network card. With assistance from Linksys, I got gateway and card working...but, range is extremely poor. Within 15 ft, wireless is excellent, but moving a couple of rooms over, about 35-40' from gateway (router), I have no connectivty with my gateway. Gateway is on floor next to my desktop desk. In this room that is 35-40; from router, I can sometimes pick up another wireless network from a neighbor; closest house would be at least 60' away. Should I try some new hardware or is the network card and router not playing well together???

Hccmac,
One thing you should try is changing channels for the wireless on your router. This may or may not help. Where you can see your neighbor's network, I would say you wireless laptop is fine. I have changed channels on my wireless router with good results.
