I have searched this and other forums trying to find an answer. Either it's not there, or I just don't recognize it...
Home network. cable modem to Linksys router to lan on desktop pc. 3 laptops all pmcia linksys wireless adapters. All working fine (file sharing/printing/internet) except one problem child. It was fine until I manually uninstalled Norton systemworks. Now wireless says I'm connect to network, signal is good, but also says adapter is aquiring IP address. And that's all that happens--it's still looking for the IP address. OJ will find the killer before my laptop finds the address. adapter does work in the other laptops just fine.
I'm not real knowledgeable about all this--I set the network up according to the Linksys instructions, and everything has worked great for over a year.
I have checked w/linksys, both phone (anyone speak english?) and instant chat. THey insist problem is not in hardware.
I assume I uninstalled something maybe that Windows needs?
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I had that same excat problem. What i did to fix it was maually assign the ip address under the tcp/ip settings in your connection preferences. on microsoft.com they say its service pack 2 thats doing it, but manually assign the ip address, and your problem should be fixed.

I'm not sure if this is the same thing you're speaking of, but I did try assigning a static address? Laptop did connect to net, but very, very slow--said something about proxy? When it was connected, the other laptops on the network lost connection. I undid the static address so the others would work.
