ok ok ok i need alot of help, i just got a laptop, and my pc is using roadrunner with 1 IP.
i want to use my laptop on the internet but also still use my pc at the same time.
can someone plz tell me how to do this without paying for another ip, minimal hardware and software and prices would be nice, i know doing this i might loose transfer speeds aswell, is there a way to fix that?
now... i have some options..
1) my pc uses the usb output from the modem leaving the ethernet one free, can i simply use that output and run it to my laptop?
2) can i split the cable (the acuall cable comming from the outside) and buy a new cable modem and hook it up to my laptop?
3) can i split the usb coming from the modem and put one end to my laptop?
4) or...do i have to buy hubs and routers and stuff. plz help me with this one cuse im not to good with networking and such, i dont want any hubs or routers with security featurse such as firewalls...
i very much appreciate the help
and if u have the time could u email it to sephiroth1_1@yahoo.com thx

If you have an ethernet device at both machines (nic), you can run a crossover cable from computer1 to computer2. Or you can connect both computers to a hub using regular cable. Set up ICS on computer1 using the Internet connection. Setup the nic which is connected to the other computer with an ip address like 192.168.0.1 and subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
Set computer2 to obtain ip address automatically.
