Pls Help! Can't Access Yahoo/MSN m

I have a network of 20 systems, they are all connected via peer networking with primary aim of internet browsing.I have a router and a patch panel through which they were all connected.I had problem with my router and I discovered it has damaged.Since I use Patch panel I then decided to use server based networking in the absence of d router.I made a system with p111 600mh my server with windows 2000 server running on it.I then assign IP addresses to all of them and I use proxy for sharing d internet access.All of them on d network can browse but THEY CAN NOT ACCESS YAHOO, HOTMAIL,EXCITE ETC MESSENGERS.Pls help me out of this.Once again, d server runs win2000 server and d clients are mix of win98 and winme.

when you say 'browse' do you mean they can see each other or that they can see internet pages like google.com?

do you have a firewall? if not it's probably a proxy issue.. anyone out there a proxy specialist?

Yes, I can help. Since you are using a proxy, you have to configure the proxy address in all internet software u want to use, including chat software like yahoo and MSN messenger. So configure those software in each of ur machines with the proxy address.

Thank's Akachi, I discover I need to configure those messengers for proxy 'cos they were not configured for by default. AFTER I CHECKED THE DETECT PROXY BOX, THEY WERE ABLE TO CONNECT, BOTH YAHOO, MSN,ICQ MESSENGERS BUT I'M STILL HAVING PROBLEM CONNECTING MY EXCITE MESSENGER. tHANK U ALL
