playing multiplayer games over lan

hi i'v set up a small home network for my 2 pcs both running win xp.it is functioning and perfect but i cannot play games(like medal of honor) in multiplayer mode on it .in fact after selecting lan as the preferred connection way no server appears in the server list.i'v also installed ipx/upx protocol and service(but not the client) for the connection on both computers.so may you please help me throught this?!

I don't run XP, but it sounds like the XP firewall is blocking that connection. Try disabling the Firewall and see if you can see your game in MOH.

Have you started hosting a game on one pc before you check for an available server on the other pc? No offence if this is basic knowledge but sometimes you overlook the obvious.

hi guys let me explain the problem in more details: the game name is "medal of honor allied assault" and it uses just tcp/ip _and not ipx/spx compatible protocols_ over lan. the problem is while trying to install tcp/ip for my lan connection it asks for a driver location to do so and i don't know how and where to find that driver anyway i have disabled xp firewall and even i'm able to play other multiplayer games using ipx/spx compatible protocols.
