using win98..I have 2 computers hook on a lan. when I hook one computer directly to the satalite connection..I can ping this computer remotely. but when I hook this computer in Lan using the router and hub...I cannot ping the Wan ip...it says "request timeout" WHY!!?? please help..its for a job

Sounds like firewall problem. The ping is leaving your PC and coming back in loop when pinging own IP but somewhere in loop to IP at router it is not being looped back or it is being blocked. In run "Command" I believe you can trace your pings..
