Can someone please help me.
I trying to learn some basics about linux so I have set up Redhat on another machine whilst I have Windows XP running on this one.The problem I am having is that whilst I can ping the Redhat machine from XP I cannot ping from Redhat to XP. I've temporarily turned off all firewalls to see if this was the issue but to no avail.
The details are:
Windows IP Configuration
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.20
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :Redhat configuration is:
inet addr:192.168.0.30 Bcast:192.168.255.255
Mask:255.255.0.0I'm sure I must be missing something obvious but I can't for the life of me see what it is.
Hopefully, someone can help me out of my misery.
Thanks
Gareth

how about adding default on both machines if it makes difference. Use default gateway as 192.168.0.1
