Can someone please help me. I trying to learn some basics about linux so I have set up Redhat on another machine whilst I have Windows XP running on this one. The problem I am having is that whilst I can ping the Redhat machine from XP I cannot ping from Redhat to XP. I've temporarily turned off all firewalls to see if this was the issue but to no avail. The details are: Windows IP Configuration Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.20 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : Redhat configuration is: inet addr:192.168.0.30 Bcast:192.168.255.255 Mask:255.255.0.0 I'm sure I must be missing something obvious but I can't for the life of me see what it is. how about adding default on both machines if it makes difference. Use default gateway as 192.168.0.1
