Ping - Inconsistent Replies

I connect in on my laptop to my RAS server. I can then ping the RAS server successfully but other ping return strange results.
By default ping sends out 4 packets. What happens to most of the address is I get a reply from packet 1 and then 3 timed out.
But a few of the other addresses will reply all 4?

This is normally an indication of a NIC problem or NIC drivers problem. Try another NIC brand for testing purpose, and will probably answer your question.
