pc2 high bandwidth demand causes router failu

Netgear / Rp614

Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, 3.207 GHz / 2046 MB
a high bandwidth demand on pc2 causes the router to disconnect - I added a linksys (10 mbps) hub before pc2 which seems to have corrected the problem. What's up with that? Network is as follows: cable modem - router - 3 feet to PC1 - 20 feet to hub and PC2

High bandwidth will not cause a router to disconnect unless there is a fault with it.

What I suspect happened is that you had a lose connection and by inserting the hub you inadvertently corrected the problem.

Thanks for the reply but before connecting the hub I had tried different cables form the wall to PC with the same results so I don't think it is likely that there was a loose connection (at least not those connections). I just added the hub this morning so it's still possible that the situation may resurface. Do you think it may be possible that the addition of an active hub could have improved the quality of the connection?
