Ok, I have 3 office PC's which i have networked together to share resources in the same workgroup. It works well with usually no problems as the network was originally made to accommodate backups over the LAN.
My issue is that we just installed a web server and it is running XP home like 2 of the other 3 PC's in the office. I have setup the server to share the folder that houses the website shared files. It shows up in the network neighborhood on the server without issue. The server can also see the shared files of the computer in question. But when i go to the computer that i need to gain access to the shared files from nothing shows up in the network neighborhood. It can see the workgroup, but when i try and enter the workgroup it just shows a blank page like there is nothing to be shared. Any idea's on what can be done to correct this?
What i have done to troubleshoot
-completed the network setup wizard on both PC's in question multiple times
-ensured both are in the same workgroup
-changed the workgroup name
-kicked the server

Apparnetly, IIS won't run on XP Home but Apache will, according to the following site. May I ask why you need or want a web server for your LAN?

Is netbios over tcp/ip set as enabled in all pcs tcp/ip advanced settings?
Are the windows firewall configured to trust all hosts?
Guantanamo bay is a National Disgrace! End it NOW!

We need a web server to serve our company webpage. The issue we are having is not with the server. The issue is that one of our desktop PC's can not access the shared folders on the LAN, including those on our server, which is what's most important to have access to.
We have actually disabled all the firewalls for troubleshooting, besides i'm fairly sure that when windows printer and file sharing it setup through the network wizard it creates the openings in the firewall for these. But to answer the question, the firewalls are disabled.

Try to access it by IP address instead. Let's say the PC that holds the shares is 192.169.0.20
The shares should appear on the other PCs if you enter the IP address in the run box preceded by two back slashes.\\192.168.0.20 Press enter.

again:
Is netbios over tcp/ip set as enabled in all pcs tcp/ip advanced settings?Guantanamo bay is a National Disgrace! End it NOW!

My Network places is dependant on netbios being enabled in tcp/ip properties which is why I asked. Not enabled means no entries.
Guantanamo bay is a National Disgrace! End it NOW!

Ok, thank you. I will check it out when i go to work in the morning! I'll post and let everyone know.

Ok, so i did check the netbios over tcp/ip settings and they were all on. I did what guapo suggested and placed the \\192.168.xxx.xxx on the command line and it pulled it up with no problem. I then mapped the drive to my computer and all was well. Thanks for everyone's help!
