I have an acer pc connected to my router, my other half wants a laptop. What do I need to use the laptop wireless? I hope that makes sense.

Providing the laptop has a wireless interface, and most do these days, and you have a wireless router you will have everything you need.

If you do not have a wireless router you will need to buy one and replace it with the one you have. You can tell if you have a wireless router as it will have a small antenna sicking out the back.
