My computer will only connect to my pc via the usb wireless adapter and not via wired lan. I have two pc's and one wireless adapter so i would like one to be wired. I'm pretty sure that it is something on my computer itself that is causing this incompatibility as my xbox 360 has no problems connecting to the router via an ethernet cable. Any other information needed just ask.

Look at the output of the command ipconfig /all. It will show how each is configured. In that output it should show you how you need to make the lan in a similar state.
This assumes that you have working nic's and proper cable's.
Also if that is no help, then describe in more detail how your setup is connected.
