I networked 4 computers together. 1.Win2k named dobro, 2.Win98 named wayne, 3.Win2k named upstairs, 4.Win98 named Rose. I have all file and printer sharing enabled on everyone. They are all in the same Workgroup. When I try to access the Win2k named dobro in network neighborhood from Win98 named Rose I get the Enter Network Prompt box come up with "You must supply a password to make this connection". Resource name is \\DOBRO\IPC$. I tried putting the same password in as when I boot the dobro computer up but it is incorrect. All shares on all computers are on and set to full access. This is the only one doing this. Can anybody give any suggestions. I've tried a multitude of things. Thanks.

Thanks MrGriggs...

I created another user on the other Win98 box and I get the same password message coming up. So now my conclusion is that the 98 box that can't get into the 2k box does not have an Adnministrator logged in. Since 98 has very little security built in I am trying to create an Administrator to log in with. Reinstalling to get to the option to get that.
Thanks for your input.

Hi dobri guy,
I got a same problem. I'm bigginer in networking and my English is not so exelant. The problem maybe seems a little bit smaller becaouse there is a only two computers but the point is a same. Host computer(server) running Win 2000 Pro and Client is running on Win ME.(this one can't get accses to server without a password wich is uknown for me) Actualy, I also have tryed a lot of passwords, changing every third time everything from work groups to the names of the computers becaouse after a three times false loggin, the accses to the host computer is being denied.
And I alrteady wannted to reinstall Win ME when I saw your comment with a same topic.
Please try to explaine me step by step(and wider if it's possibile)what should I do to avoid a problem. Also I would prefere any of ex-Yougoslavian lenguiges if it's aviable if it's not never mind.
In advance friendly greetings and thanks to DOBROGUY from Bojan.

Ok Bojan111...

You are confusing me a bit but try this.

When you boot the Win2000 do you have a user and password login to get in? Same question for the WinME computer.

Were you ever able to get into the Win2k computer?

First go into the control panel in the Win2k computer then into the "Users and Passwords" applet.
Add the Username from the WinMe computer to the list. Administrator and Guest should already be listed there. That should solve the access problem. You might get prompted for the user and password after you click on it in network neighborhood. Use the same ones as when you start the computer up.

The Win2k computer should automatically be able to access the WinMe computer.

Double make sure you have both computers with the same Workgroup name.
Make sure sharing on the C:\drives is set to full on both computers.

Hope this helps. Let me know.

Enjoy
