Dear readers, I have 11 pc's each divided up and connected between 3 10/100 switches that then go directly into my NETGEAR DG834 Router.

The problem is that one of the 3 switches which is connected to the router creates an orange light on the router indicating packets being lost or colliding im told.

On that paticular switch that creates the orange light on the netgear router their is an colision detection light on the switch but this is saying there is no colision but the router is saying there is on that switch?

The ethernet lead from the router connects into port 1 on each switch.

sorry if a daft Q. ]

Thanks

Do you have other information (e.g. a manual or labelling on the router) that the orange light indicates a collision? Because that is not necessarily what the orange light means.

Some switches/routers use an orange light to indicate a 10mbit and/or half-duplex link, for example. Is it possible that the port associated with the orange light is connected to a 10mbit switch? What happens if you move the cable to another port on the switch?
