Need your help guys.
Have one old Compaq Pressario I would like to get on a PHONE LINE network, has one half ISA slot only, heard there was an adapter that could be used on the outside of the computer connected to the parallel port of this computer in order that it may be on the phone line network.
****My next question - if I have one phone line which is not on, I use a cell phone only, can I network 3 computers via this means using the same single phone jack in my trailer. Does the phone line have current service as mine does not.
Also are there any other adapters I could buy
using the power line networking method that would link this old dinasour to my other 2 more current systems. The systems are:
1. A clone Matsonic MB 9317E.
2. Compaq Pressario 5008US.
3. Compaq Presario 2200Or what would be the best way to network
same.

Does the Compaq Pressario 2200 have 2 phone jacks on the back panel? It appears that this model came with an internal 33.6 Kbps modem.
Does your phone line work? Not if you are not paying the phone company.
Internet search engines are your friends.

The only Parallel Port NIC's were for Ethernet RJ45 and BNC Connections afaik.

What about this set up on a power line network with a solution to network the
older Compaq Pressario 2200, it does have an old ISA 1/2 slot where the modem was. Thanks, I have heard of dinasours being used in networking still today, desparately need this one working, as it is still a great system.

Question: Phone line network. Are you thinking of the new version that uses the phone system or the old version that just uses RJ11 phone lines for connections?
I don' think any powerline cards will fit.The Presario 2200 has an 8-bit ISA slot that is shorter (obstructed by audio duct and RTC battery) and about 2/3 the height of a standard card. You can run a network card in the slot if it can fit. I have a NE2000 compatible with the BNC connector removed and the 16 bit part of the card edge cut off.
The only other possibility is a parallel port adapter, but ethernet versions are relatively expensive.

Point me in the right direction for the parallel port adapter, ethernet version, as I really need to get this one networked.
Thanks.

The only one that I know of was made by Xircom. Now owned by Intel it is listed as discontinued. Your might have to find a used one with software and documentation. Your other choice is to find a network card that can be modified to fit.
