Problems setting up sub e-mail occount on 2nd PC. Main PC has Windows XP, e-mail works okay.
2nd PC connected to Broadband via wireless router has Wondows ME. I can send e-mails, but when I try to receive it stays connecting till time out message appears.

Settings on both PC's are the same, the only difference is one accesses the internet via a wirless router.
I currently have both accounts set up on the main PC and they work okay there, this is connected directly into the router with an ethernet cable.

the 2nd pc which times out when receiving e-mail is connected with a wirless adapter.

Any ideas

Firstly, it's quite possible that Windows ME is the problem, it often is.

It may be that your antivirus software is causing a delay that Outlook Express is not expecting causing the time out. Most AV apps have settings that can prevent this but it depends what (if anything) you have installed.

It is unlikely that the wireless connection is the problem.

There are other things that can be tested if the AV is not the problem.

On the 2nd PC I have the free version of AVG running. Although this was running before I bought the new PC and it worked okay.

I will try Outlook Express tonight with AVG switched off.

Tried with AVG switched off still the same.

As I say it worked okay before I got the new PC and wireless router. When I got these I moved the old PC to another room and connected up via the wireless router, and changed the e-mail address on this PC. Unfortunately I did not try the original e-mail when I first moved the PC, I just changed the account

I have since tried to add this account and it has the same issues.
