outlook express and wireless router

February 27, 2009 at 12:48:55
Specs: Windows XP
I am using a cable modem, and I want to install a wireless router so I can use my laptop while the home PC is in use. I can successfully cofigure the router, and both the PC and the laptop function normally, with one exception. With the router installed, neither my wife's nor my email account can find the pop-server for my road runner mail account. When I disconnect the router, outlook express performs as expected.

look at the firewall and ports settings in the router. Any ports blocked?

You will get different ip connected to the router than the modem. Are your local [software] firewalls either disabled or configured to trust this new subnet?
