I installed&updated my orinoco wireless drivers under WIN XP HOME(latest dr. WINTER02), config IP, GATE..., SSID, no WEP...No hardware problems detected. Icon show me that this connection is active, but with no signal! Hows that?
i tried to connect my notebook, using all the same orinoco card+picktale, all configuration is same. Only use WIN98SE and drivers and it works!
In XP Home I enter a SSID, but again there is a problem because my ISP doesnt use name for this network. I use AD-HOC (no infrastructure). I only use one comp., no network, no ICS... Problem maybe in this too: AD-HOC is not a PPP connection as XP says. Also my Client manager indicates no signal, somewhere i read, that in XP doesnt function properly, does it?

if your getting no signal but it still work then maybe your having some interferance in your room..do you have a 2.4 ghz phone or are you close to something that gives off RF...someting could be intercepting your signals
According to TP-040.pdf from Orinoco it seems to be problem with damned Win IBSS. The problem is in these incompatibility: IBSS (WIN XP sys)and Ad Hoc Demo Mode (ORINOCO PCMCIA card) There is described a way how has to be in registry the value "PortType" changed from 1 to 3 and "ownchannel" on 3 to work. Problem is: this doc is about year old and doesnt described how to change keys in win XP (thats hardly different). Any ideas?
