I want to use Timbuktu Pro for intercom chat, and have been told I need to open ports. I am currently using an IDSL connection with a Netopia router. Since being hooked up, MSN messenger voice chat will also not work. I am very inexperienced with networks, etc., having only had a dial-up connection previously. My question is: Is there a reasonably easy method for opening ports?

If you have DSL. More than likely the ports that are open and closed are controlled by your provider. (unless your running the dsl through a router or routing PC) call them up and talk to them. Probably be best off telling them you want to be behind their firewall and that you want a real IP.

Contact the manufature of your router and tell them what you want to do. It will hopefully save you headache if you dont know what a port is.
